I became a teacher because I believe every child deserves to feel seen, capable, and loved. Becoming a mama to a child with special needs made my work deeply personal. I’ve sat at the IEP table and felt the weight and hope families carry. It’s shaped me to teach with more empathy, patience, and fierce advocacy, showing up each day as the educator I hope my own child has.

One of my most memorable moments as a first grade teacher was watching a student who started the year barely recognizing letters stand up and read a full sentence to the class. The room erupted in applause, but what I remember most was his smile of pride. It reminded me that growth takes patience, belief, and consistency. That day affirmed why I teach: small breakthroughs change how children see themselves forever.

If I won America’s Favorite Teacher and $25,000, I would pour it back into my classroom and my family. I’d expand my classroom library, invest in hands-on STEM materials, flexible seating, and sensory support so every learner, especially students with special needs, can thrive. I’d also fund meaningful experiences like field trips and family engagement nights. I would also use part of the money to support my own family: therapies, enrichment opportunities, and creating special memories together.
