Tell us why you became a teacher

I had a teacher in 8th grade that read the first 3 Harry Potter books to us in class. She did all the voices, and it was amazing. After her class I read all of the other Harry Potter books on my own. She awoke a love for reading in me. That same teacher gave us writing journals and she would read what I had written everyday and she always told me how good it was. I wanted to be that voice of encouragement. I wanted to be able to light that spark for learning in children.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The best part of teaching for me is when you’re reviewing for a test and the students raise their hands to give the answers. You call on one student and then another and you ask more questions and they keep getting them right. It feels so good to see the results of your hard work. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that you’ve taught them something amazing.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I would use the money to help bolster my income and take care of my family. I’m a single mom. I might also use it to help pay off some of my debt. I’m still in school- currently working on my Specialist degree. I might also use it to help pay off my car, or perhaps even a part of my mortgage. There are so many things I would do with $25,000.
