Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to work with kids and help them prepare for the future. I love sharing knowledge and watching students grow into adulthood. It gives me a chance to give something of myself that is positive and memorable. I also love teaching students how to be kind human beings that are honorable and respectful. It gives me hope for our future.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was working with a young man with special needs. He did not have many friends and many kids shunned him in previous years. By the end of the year, the kids were "fighting" to have him in their field trip groups and he had made terrific gains in his academics and socially. By setting expectations and leading by example, the kids followed suit.

What would you do with the $25,000?

A portion would go to my classroom/school, and the rest would go toward some home renovations that are much needed.
