I became a teacher because I want to inspire students and make learning accessible for all kids. I want them to discover their incredible gifts and talents and begin to realize their potential. I want students to fall in love with learning and be lifelong scholars always growing and discovering.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThere is one memory that shaped who I became as a teacher. My first year teaching, my students created a club called Society Savers. They worked hard all year to raise money for local charities. Their joy in giving to others in need was evident in all they did. They taught me that even the youngest person can make a difference in the world if they are just given a chance, some encouragement, and a little support.
What would you do with the $25,000?I am helping open a non-profit early learning center to provide preschool in my community. With the $25,000, I would set up a scholarship fund to help make preschool more accessible and affordable for all local families. Also, I would buy ice cream for my entire school, obviously!
