Tell us why you became a teacher

I wanted to make a difference in the life of a child! That’s my why! I have always wanted to be a teacher. For as long as I can remember. From assigning homework to my stuffed animals to teaching my siblings. It has always been a part of me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I am a product of the district I teach in. From elementary to high school, I have had so many incredible teachers that inspired me. My 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Plambeck was my idol! When I was hired, at my first Professional Development, she was there. I worked up the courage to ask her if she remembered me. As all good teachers do, she said, “of course!” When I received Teacher of the Year, I shared this story. Without knowing, she was in the audience! She gasped. Full circle moment!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I chose to be a teacher because it is my passion! I have acquired a bit of debt because of it! I would pay off my debt and help myself get a bit ahead to not have to stress and live paycheck to paycheck! This would help reduce stress for my family and I. I would also absolutely love a vacation!
