Tell us why you became a teacher

I graduated from undergrad as a business major. I quickly learned that my purpose was so much greater. So, I went on to dip my feet in substitute teaching. My very first day in the classroom was the most fulfilling day ever. I knew from that moment that I belonged there. Becoming a teacher changed my life and outlook on life forever. I became grey with an understanding that life is not always black and white, and that students needed unconditional love more than academics.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

In 2013, I was the senior class sponsor at Inkster High School in Inkster Michigan.Together, we survived threats of school closure, loss of accreditation, and worst of all the loss of a classmate. I loved these babies. At their commencement, the speaker told the students to leave their seats and run to the person who had the biggest impact on their high school career, and the class ran up to the stage and hugged me. I cried like a baby. It's 13 years later, and this is still the most memorable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off debt and save some for rainy days. I am a cancer survivor and Colorectal Cancer has a very high possibility of return. I was very lucky the first time, but i am not sure I will be if it returns. I want to be prepared in the event that this intruder rears its ugly head again and I am not capable of doing what I love. ,
