I love being part of a child’s life. Helping them grow, even for a short time, in ways they’ll carry and remember long after they leave me.

Growing up in lower income household, I saw firsthand how much influence a teacher can truly have. During those hard times, my teachers were the ones who showed up and assured me things would be okay. Those experiences are exactly why I chose this career. I wanted to be that person for students facing their own struggles, providing the same stability and belief in their future that my teachers once gave me.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI saw firsthand how much a teacher’s support really matters with my past experiences. I became a teacher to be that same anchor for my kids. Early in my career at a Title I school, I had a bright student who was terrified of being moved from foster care back to his biological parents. Understanding how challenging that could be, I could truly walk him through that journey. I teach because I know that for some kids, we are the proof that they'll be okay.
What would you do with the $25,000?Winning $25,000 would be life-changing. To keep up with how expensive life is, I’m constantly working past my contract, tutoring after school, teaching enrichment, and picking up extra work on my breaks. Some days I’m easily clocking 12 hours just to stay ahead. This money would finally allow me to pay off debt and breathe. Most importantly, I’d use it to fund my classroom needs so my students have everything they deserve. I would be beyond grateful for the help.
