Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because it has always been who I am. As a little girl, I lined up my teddy bears and pretended to teach them, not knowing that one day I would have a real classroom of my own. Pre-K 4 is the foundation, at that age, children are fearless, curious, and adventurous little sponges, soaking up every word, every lesson, and every ounce of love you pour into them. I’ve worked my way from daycare classrooms to leading my own class, and I can honestly say teaching is my heart.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was welcoming a student with special needs who, on the first day, was jumping on tables and struggling to regulate. It was clear he needed patience, structure, and unconditional love. Day by day, we worked on routines, trust, and confidence. Today, I watched him fully participate in a schoolwide pep rally calm, engaged, and smiling. Seeing that growth brought me to tears.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would use it to return to school for educational administration. As a Pre-K 4 teacher, I see how strong leadership shapes student success and teacher growth. This investment would remove financial barriers and allow me to focus on becoming a leader who advocates for students, supports educators, and strengthens the foundation of early childhood education in my community.
