Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education has the power to change lives. I’ve always loved learning and reading, but more than that, I love helping others grow. Teaching allows me to guide students during important, formative years and help them build confidence, think critically, and discover their strengths. I became a teacher not just to teach content, but to make a lasting difference in students’ lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was watching a struggling student confidently share their writing aloud for the first time. Earlier in the year, they avoided participation and doubted their abilities. After weeks of encouragement and revision, they volunteered to read their work to the class. The pride in their voice and the applause from peers reminded me why I teach—growth happens when students feel safe, supported, and seen.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would invest in furthering my education in educational leadership so I can expand my impact beyond my own classroom. I would use it to support tuition and certification costs, allowing me to step into a leadership role where I can influence school culture, support teachers, and improve student outcomes. It would not only ease financial strain on my family, but also help me grow professionally and better serve students and staff.
