I became a teacher after working as an athletic trainer and realizing I was missing my own children’s sporting events. During that time, I also discovered how much I naturally enjoyed educating my athletes about their injuries and recovery. As I considered a career change, teaching felt like a natural fit—allowing me to combine my three passions: education, sports, and medicine, while also being present for my family.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceThis past year, students were invited to write about a teacher who made a difference in their lives. One of my medical terminology students wrote about how our class—and the life lessons we shared—impacted her. I was surprised when she read it aloud in front of the entire faculty. Hearing her words brought me to tears and reminded me that even the smallest moments in the classroom can leave a lasting mark on a student’s heart
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the funds to pay down outstanding medical debt and contribute toward the purchase of a new home for my family.
