For the past 21 years, I’ve loved working with young toddlers in early childhood education because teaching young minds is inspiring.
Thank you for supporting Kisha Cantrell in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
I became an early childhood educator because I believe the early years shape everything. I want children to feel seen, safe, and confident in who they are—so they grow up bold, curious, and unafraid to take up space in the world.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching experiences was when I taught a non-verbal child how to eat properly using a spoon. It was challenging for the child to use their fine motor skills. But now they are beginning to take initiative and desire to do things on their own. I believe with further guidance, love, and support that they will continue to grow.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would pay off a few debts, make minor home repairs after a devastating house fire a few years ago, and donate to my school Morning Star Child Development Center to continue the ongoing educational work and wellbeing of the children we care for each and every day.
