Teaching is not only a profession, it's also and art and a calling. I have been blessed with this privilege and the rewards are endless.

I became a teacher so that I could contribute my knowledge, wisdom and experiences in education to my students, as well as our community. When students thrive, they become a positive force in society and help to lead the next generation to a higher level of excellence on a global scale by connecting achievement with innovation. Education gives students the ability to soar to heights they have never dreamed of and I get the privilege of participating in this honorable endeavor.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience involves how excited my students were about the far reaching implications of genetics! They could not believe that in a 10th grade classroom they could actually figure out the gender of a child by just using markers, pipe cleaners as chromosomes and a whiteboard. I entitled my lesson as "who's the baby's father?" With their lab partner they could actually figure out who the father was.
What would you do with the $25,000?First and foremost, I plan to give a portion to my church. We are pretty good at helping to meet the needs of those in our community. When the community wins we all win. After that, I plan to continue renovations on my home. It isn't easy trying to save and budget for those necessities on a teacher's salary, so I hope to win and complete the projects that I have started.
