Learn MoreAfter my career of teaching thousands of humans (and animals) as a zookeeper, I realized I wanted to do MORE to educate people about science and our planet around us. This inspired me to return to school and bring that passion to the classroom full time. I used to get zoo guests tell me, “I wish you were my science teacher growing up”, now I can be!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience, this one is difficult because I teach middle schoolers- so every day is extremely memorable. I think the best one was when I was teaching and a student asked a question that I have covered more than once…and another student chimed in and said “Hey! Don’t you know what Mrs. Poulin always says?” And a bunch of students in unison said “Use RACE and answer in FULL SENTENCES”. This showed me my students truly listened and were in a safe space.
What would you do with the $25,000?I love to start a family and use the money for a down payment on a home. Being a teacher is not always easy financially or emotionally and often we sacrifice a bit of us for others kids. I would like to finally get to have my own child, and maybe raise them in a home of their own.
