Tell us why you became a teacher

I was inspired because of my high school history teacher. He recognized my potential and fostered my confidence, I became a teacher to provide that same encouragement, guidance, and support to my students. His impact showed me the power of meaningful connections, and I strive each day to create a classroom where students feel safe, valued, capable, and inspired to grow.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A student once shared that learning ASL allowed her to truly communicate with her Deaf family member, strengthening their relationship and transforming their family dynamic. Now this person doesn’t feel so alone and segregated.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would reinvest it directly into my students and my classroom to expand access to meaningful, inclusive learning experiences. I would enhance ASL resources, bring in Deaf guest speakers, and create immersive opportunities that foster empathy, confidence, and real-world communication. My goal is to ensure every student feels seen, valued, and empowered because when students feel understood, they don’t just learn, they thrive.
