Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I saw my father’s passion for teaching kids. Watching how he inspired, guided, and encouraged his students showed me the impact a teacher can have. I wanted to do the same, help students grow, celebrate their victories, and make learning meaningful every day. His example shaped my path, and now I strive to pass that same love for learning and encouragement to every student I teach.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I’m from the Philippines, teaching in Florida as a cultural exchange teacher. From high school math to elementary classrooms, I’ve seen students struggle, celebrate, and grow. One solved her first algebra equation; a shy 5th grader raised her hand for the first time. The wins, challenges, and unexpected moments shape the teacher I am today and every day, I get to inspire young minds.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest the $25,000 to enhance my teaching and professional growth, attending workshops, purchasing classroom resources, and implementing innovative strategies. I would also use part of it to support students who need financial assistance, helping them access learning opportunities and succeed in their education.
