I became a teacher because school was always a place where a child’s life could quietly change. I wanted to be the adult who notices the shy student, the struggling reader, and the child who thinks they “aren’t smart.” Teaching lets me build confidence before academics. When students begin to believe in themselves, learning follows. I teach to create safe, joyful classrooms where children feel seen, capable, and important.

One of my most memorable moments was watching a struggling reader finally read aloud to the class. He used to hide during reading and say he “couldn’t.” After months of small-group work and encouragement, he raised his hand and read an entire page. The class applauded, but what I remember most was his smile. That moment wasn’t about a score. It was about a child realizing he could. That’s why I teach.

I would use the funds to create a hands-on learning classroom where students can experience learning, not just hear it. I would build STEM and science centers, provide classroom libraries for diverse reading levels, and supply project materials families cannot afford. Many students rely on school for opportunity. This funding would remove barriers and allow every child to participate, explore, and succeed regardless of income.
