Tell us why you became a teacher

I decided to become a teacher because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives. School is more than just a place where children learn academic skills, it is a place where they develop confidence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging. I was drawn to teaching because it allows me to help shape those experiences and support students as they grow both academically and personally.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was with a student who was new to the country and still learning English. Over time we built a strong connection in the classroom. What stood out to me most was that she expressed gratitude not only for the learning opportunities I provided, but also for the comfort and sense of safety she felt in my classroom.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Ultimately, my goal would be to use the $25,000 in ways that directly support student engagement, equity, and access to meaningful learning opportunities. By investing in classroom resources and educational field trip experiences that align with students’ academic and cultural needs, the funds would help create a learning environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.
