Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because my passion had always been to help children. I started babysitting, then working at a summer camp, and finally became a leader in the classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience was when I told a former student I was moving to another district and they started crying because they still came back to visit and talk. I was a safe person for them. We ended up writing letters to one another before I left and 7 years later still exchange emails every few months. Leaving a lasting impression on a student and knowing I made and still continue to make a positive difference in their life keeps me going.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to help my family. I paid for college on my own so using it to pay off some of that loan, but also put something away for my own children’s future education would be amazing!
