Tell us why you became a teacher

I LOVE learning, so being in the classroom each day is an opportunity for ME to learn! I also love KIDS and all of the joy & stress that comes with them. I am proud to be an educator that is helping this newer generation to reach their full potential as learners & as upstanding members of society. I want my students to find their passion for being lifelong learners, as well as developing a work ethic & pride in whatever tasks they take on.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Having a teaching career that has spanned 34 years has left me with too many memories to narrow it down to just one! I will say, however, there is nothing better than reconnecting with a past student years down the road & seeing what a success they've made of their lives, knowing that some of my influence played a part in their journey to get there. THAT makes it all the planning, stress, time & energy worth it!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would definitely travel! I'd love a first-hand look at the things of this world that I've spent SO many years teaching about. A teaching salary has helped me contribute to the costs of raising my family, but never left much extra to afford luxuries like travel. Winning this money would be a fitting way to celebrate the end of my teaching era, leaving the profession with a much needed reward!
