Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference and create a welcoming environment where kids want to be and learn.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

From hunting for our shadows on Groundhog Day, planting our garden, raising chicks, and watching my students grow so much it is hard to pinpoint one moment. I love every moment my students show they love learning and they love being in the classroom. I love when my kindergarteners find me a pretty leaf and have to give it to me. I love when I see them working together and having fun. School is a place to feel safe and be yourself. Those are the moments I love.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use some of the money to continue my education and put the rest toward my own children’s education. School is so important, no matter how old you are.
