I spent 10 years working in ministry. Most kids that I got to spend time with came from good homes. During a camp I hosted, I met a student who was a visitor at my church. Spending time and getting to know him hep me realize that I wanted to be in a place that I could help students from all walks of life. Public school teaching has helped me find that.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI had a student that would show up every day and give their absolute hardest. This student struggled so much. I put my whole heart into this kiddo and their family. I was able to advocate for her to get services and get help that she needed. She came to me a couple days later and asked to talk to me. She had tears rolling down her face and she hugged me. She told me that no one ever cared enough about her and she knew she would never be the “smart kid”. She said that I changed her life.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would love to pay off student loans. I went back to school in my 30s to get my degree. I was a full time mom and worked full time to pay for college but still had to take out several student loans. I would love to take this burden away
