Tell us why you became a teacher

I didn’t always know I wanted to be a teacher. After experiencing loss, I began to reflect on what truly mattered. I realized I wanted a life with purpose, one where I could make a difference. Teaching allows me to create a safe, supportive space where students feel valued and inspired. It brings me happiness to help others grow, and if I can impact even one student’s life, I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was during a math lesson where students became fully engaged. They enjoyed it so much that they continued quizzing each other throughout recess. Seeing their excitement, confidence, and genuine love for learning reminded me how powerful engaging teaching can be and how meaningful it is to spark that kind of enthusiasm in students.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to support my students by creating more inclusive, engaging learning experiences, upgrading equipment, adding resources, and removing barriers so every student can succeed. I would also invest in programs that promote health, confidence, and well-being. Personally, I’d use a portion to pay down student loans and continue growing as an educator so I can give even more back to my students.
