Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because my parents taught me the value of education and three teachers believed in my potential. From elementary school to high school, they inspired my confidence and love of learning. My business teacher also introduced me to FBLA, sparking a passion I now share with my students. Today, watching them succeed at the state and national levels is a true blessing and reminds me why teaching matters.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was with a student who didn’t place at last year’s Virginia FBLA state competition and was in tears. I encouraged him to try again, and this year he returned determined, earning 1st place with a perfect score. When he realized his achievement, we both cried and hugged, celebrating his hard work, perseverance, and the joy of reaching a goal through dedication and resilience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use part of the $25,000 to help my 10 FBLA students and me travel from Virginia to Texas to compete at the FBLA National Leadership Conference. This opportunity allows them to showcase their hard work and represent our school on a national stage. I would also use part of the funds to help pay off classroom expenses I’ve personally covered over the years, supporting my students and program.
