Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in students’ lives beyond academics. I wanted to be someone who encourages, supports, and believes in every child, especially those who may not believe in themselves yet. Teaching allows me to help shape future leaders, build confidence, and create opportunities for success. Every day, I have the chance to impact lives, and that is what makes this career so meaningful to me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was watching a student who struggled all year finally have a breakthrough. They had little confidence and often gave up quickly, but with encouragement, support, and consistency, something changed. One day, they solved a problem on their own and proudly said, “I did it!” The smile on their face said everything. In that moment, I was reminded that teaching is not just about content—it’s about building confidence, perseverance, and belief in oneself.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000, I would invest it directly into my students and classroom. I would purchase hands-on learning materials, classroom technology, and resources to support all learners, including ESL students. I would also help cover costs for Beta Club, field trips, and soccer so every student has equal opportunities. Additionally, I would create engaging experiences that motivate students, build confidence, and make learning meaningful and memorable.
