Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I am passionate about helping children grow, learn, and feel seen and supported in who they are. I love creating meaningful connections with students that help support each student’s needs. As a special education teacher, my goal is to help my students feel included and understood.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was helping a student with limited communication learn to express their needs. After months of modeling and support, they independently used a communication strategy to ask for help. That moment—seeing their confidence and pride—reminded me why I teach and the impact of patience, consistency, and belief in every child.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, I would use that money to help buy the supplies and resources that my students need. I would upgrade a lot of the outdated toys and furniture in my classroom to help it become more inclusive for all of my students.
