I became a teacher, specifically in early elementary, to help shape student success and build their passion for learning. I want to pass on the same love for school that I had to every child in front of me, especially those who see themselves in me. I believe every child deserves a place to feel seen, valued, and capable, and I strive to give them the tools and environment to be their best selves.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was the first time I dressed up as Super Reader Man, my alter ego who inspires a love for reading. When I introduced this character to my kindergartners, it felt as if a real superhero had walked into the room. Their excitement for books went through the roof and carried throughout the year. It was a powerful reminder of how joy, imagination, and connection can foster a lasting love of learning.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were to win the grand prize, I would invest in my classroom by expanding literacy and math resources, creating engaging learning experiences inside and outside of school, and growing my Super Reader initiative by publishing a series of books to inspire young readers beyond my immediate community. I would also use a portion to support my family and long-term goals, ensuring I can continue showing up every day for my students with stability and focus.
