Teaching is a passion for me! I have taught for over 25 years and watching kids learn to be problem solvers and critical thinkers is my jam!

The reason I became a teacher is to make connections and through these connections to make a meaningful lasting relationship with my students. I also love to listen and laugh with my students as we grow into our third grade community! I love teaching and feel lucky to have found a profession that excites me every day!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI have many memorable teaching experiences and I have been changed as a person and an educator each time. My most recent experience occurred this year when I did a STEAM PROJECT where students built structures to withstand severe weather, one student who struggled both academically and socially had such wonderful success with the project. He worked collaboratively, used problem solving skills and real life experiences to enhance his group’s design. He said to me “I love learning this way!”
What would you do with the $25,000?I love the book Maddi’s Fridge which discusses hunger in children lives. I would love to use half the money to work with our local food pantry to continue to set up programming for our elementary families. I would use the other half on a trip somewhere with my family, they have often made the sacrifice of not having my time or money based on the work I do. The trip would be my way to tell them how much I appreciate their support while sharing me with hundreds of elementary students.
