I became a teacher to help students recognize their potential and grow into thoughtful, capable individuals. I believe students can accomplish far more than they think when they are challenged and supported. In today’s digital world, it’s essential that they develop strong critical thinking skills while also having opportunities to think creatively and express their ideas.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It is difficult to choose one single memorable teaching experience as every year brings new challenges and meaningful moments. One that stands out most is when a student shared that a small moment of kindness and support in my classroom helped them through an incredibly difficult time in their life. Knowing that creating a safe, supportive environment could make such a difference reminded me that teaching is about far more than academics but showing students that they are seen and valued.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were fortunate enough to receive the $25,000 I would invest in experiences that help me grow as both a learner and educator. Traveling to new places would allow me to bring real world perspectives and stories back to my classroom. I would also support classroom resources and student opportunities; many teachers, myself included, often contribute significant time and personal resources behind the scenes to create meaningful learning experiences.
