I love teaching history because it helps students find their voice, question the world, and see their power to shape the future.

I became a history teacher because history was first shared with me at a puzzle table. My grandfather told me stories of serving in the Korean War, teaching me that history is made of real people and real sacrifice. In high school, Mr. Ieraci showed me kindness and passion for the past. They shaped me — and I hope to do the same for my students.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceIn all my years teaching, I’ve had countless meaningful moments, but one stands out: watching a student who struggled with reading, lost both parents, and faced setback after setback on state exams finally walk across the stage to graduate. That moment meant everything. I also cherish my “Velcro” kiddos — the ones who cling close at first — who slowly find their confidence and begin to believe in themselves despite their challenges.
What would you do with the $25,000?With $25,000, I would invest in upgrading my students’ Chromebooks, which haven’t been replaced since COVID. Reliable technology would allow them to fully access AP Classroom, research databases, digital primary sources, and writing tools without constant glitches or shutdowns. My students work incredibly hard, and they deserve devices that keep up with their curiosity, collaboration, and preparation for college-level history work.
