Tell us why you became a teacher

I began working as a substitute teacher five years ago while I was in college and balancing a management job. From the very start, I loved the daily interactions with students and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in their lives. That experience sparked a passion for education, and it inspired me to pursue teaching full-time. Since then, I have remained committed to supporting, guiding, and impacting students every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was supporting a student through grief after losing her boyfriend. She struggled daily, and I wasn’t sure I was making a difference, but I allowed her breaks and made myself available whenever she needed support. Over time, she grew stronger. Now in high school, she reached out to thank me and ask for a letter of recommendation, reminding me how meaningful small support can be.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded the $25,000, I would invest it directly into my classroom and students. I would enhance learning with updated technology, hands-on materials, and flexible seating to create a more engaging environment. I would also provide additional resources and enrichment opportunities to support all learners. A portion would go toward student incentives and basic needs, ensuring every child feels supported, valued, and motivated to succeed.
