Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education changes lives. I’ve always been passionate about helping others grow, build confidence, and discover their potential. Teaching gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference every single day, not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well. For me, teaching isn’t just about lessons and standards. It’s about impact. It’s about reminding every child that they are capable, valued, and worthy of celebration.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was seeing a student who had been struggling finally have a breakthrough moment. This student doubted their abilities and often felt discouraged. After consistent encouragement, differentiated support, and celebrating small wins, I watched them grow academically and personally. Moments like that stay with me because they show the lasting impact teachers can have beyond the classroom.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000, I would use it wisely to strengthen my family’s future. I would either pay off my remaining school debt and set aside the rest for my daughters to support their education and opportunities, or put it toward a down payment on our dream home, a forever place where my girls can grow, learn, and create lasting memories. Either choice reflects my heart for building generational stability and investing in my children like I do my students every day.
