I remember my 2nd grade teacher inspiring me to become a teacher. I love teaching in the primary grades because every day is filled with wonder, growth, and possibility. Young learners are naturally curious, and I get to nurture that curiosity through creative, inquiry-based learning that invites them to ask questions, explore ideas, and make discoveries. Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experiences always involve student initiated lessons. If I’m teaching about the water cycle and a student asks why they don’t have clean water in all places in the world which leads into a discussion about water filtration and then a hands on recycling lesson where students try to create a water filter to help countries without access to clean water! It’s always the moments when students ideas get sparked and their connections grow.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Financially, being a teacher is hard. And I’m blessed to have a spouse who supports my love of teaching. I’d love to help financially pay for the mortgage and home improvements that have been put off because of my lack of income. I truly love my job but the $25,000 is so needed to have a better home/work life balance.
