I became a teacher because I always struggled in school when I was younger. I want to help students who are like me to achieve their goals. So many students have so much potential that they just need a little extra help reaching it. My goal is to help my students as best I can so they can be prepared for their future. No one learns the same as another, and I strive to find all the ways I can to help each student learn.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has been when a student of mine was struggling emotionally in class and all the students, even those who weren't close friends, showed their support for her by writing her notes or giving her hugs. I teach 5th grade and SEL is part of our curriculum. I was able to see my students apply what they have taught to help a classmate out when they were down. Students come to school to learn more than just academics. They come to learn how to being caring individual

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would finish paying off my student loans with $25,000 and also donate the money to some of my school districts programs to help out families in need. The school district has provided so many opportunities for me, that I would love to give back and be able to help provide opportunities for the families. I wouldn't be who I am without the things my district has taught me, and what better way to thank them than giving something back.
