Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I felt called to make a difference that lasts far beyond a single lesson. I wanted to help students grow academically, to see their confidence rise as they discover what they’re capable of. But even more, I wanted to be a steady, safe presence in their lives. Being there to encourage, listen, and remind them they matter fills my heart. If I can shape both their minds and their sense of self, then I’m living my purpose every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of the most meaningful moments in my career was when a former student surprised me with an MVP certificate, thanking me for always being there. It wasn’t about grades or test scores—it was about presence. Knowing they felt supported, seen, and valued meant everything to me. That simple piece of paper represented trust and connection. It reminded me that the small, everyday moments of encouragement truly matter and often leave the biggest, lasting impact.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would first help my sister as she continues battling ongoing health challenges, easing some of her financial stress so she can focus on healing. I would set aside a portion for my two sons’ futures, giving them security and opportunity. Then, I would plan a meaningful vacation for just the three of us. After a year marked by divorce and loss, we need time to laugh, rest, and simply be together—creating new memories filled with light and happiness.
