Tell us why you became a teacher

Both of my parents were teachers, now retired. I have a passion for sharing knowledge with others and helping others understand their ability to succeed. I have also always loved working with younger kids. Being in the classroom gives me energy and I love working with my students each day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Each day can be memorable! From the laughs to the hugs to the challenges and the "ah ha" moments. I love seeing my students grow in their virtues, character and service to others and their community. My most memorable experience has been teaching a family in which I have inspired their musical passion. And all three siblings went on to find their passion and creative outlets in musical theater and performance. I have loved watching them perform and grow in their confidence and abilities.

What would you do with the $25,000?

The first thing I would do is expand my classroom library so all of my students feel represented in the books they read. I would also like to do more with STEM, so having the financial resources to stock supplies would be hugely beneficial for lessons and students' ability to build and create. I would also be able to participate in teaching programs to expand my resources as an educator. Lastly, I would like to travel and bring cultural experiences to increase the inclusivity of my lessons.
