Learn MoreI had two other careers prior to becoming a teacher. I had been in the school system when my children were young and I thought that I could make a difference. I knew that kids struggle more today than ever before and I wanted to let them know that I would help them succeed. I already had two professional degrees but found myself back in college to finish my education and become a full-time educator. I also knew that secondary education was where I needed to be. I enjoy teenagers.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceWhen I began teaching, I had some pretty tough students. I did my best to help them feel safe and loved. I didn’t think that I had made a difference until a few of them came to see me on the last day to say thank you for not giving up on them and they even brought me a cake. I was extremely proud of them and loved seeing their happiness when I ate cake with them.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would probably pay off my daughter’s medical bills and then use the rest to take my family on a trip to Europe. My husband is in the military and currently lives in another state. It would be wonderful to be all together making memories in a new place. If there was anything left, I would have a spa day.
