Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a nursing instructor after 22 years as an RN because I wanted to share the experience and lessons I learned at the bedside. Nursing is more than skills—it’s critical thinking, compassion, and advocating for patients. Teaching allows me to help shape the next generation of nurses so they enter the profession confident, prepared, and committed to excellent patient care.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments happened during a simulation. A student needed to give epinephrine but, instead of using the IV, they dramatically pretended to inject it straight into the patient’s heart—just like the scene in Pulp Fiction. The room erupted in laughter, but it turned into a great teaching moment about medication routes, critical thinking, and staying calm under pressure. Moments like that make teaching unforgettable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received this money, I would use it to further my education, pay off bills, and take a meaningful trip with my family. It would provide financial relief and allow me to invest in both my professional growth and the people who matter most to me. It’s truly a life-changing amount that would create opportunities and stability for the future.
