I became a teacher because I struggled in school with undiagnosed ADHD and was labeled a talker and lazy. I felt misunderstood and disconnected. In sixth grade, Ms. Yost changed everything. She made learning fun, used different teaching styles, and made us feel valued. I finally excelled and wanted to be there. In college, I knew I wanted to be the teacher who sees and supports every student like she did for me.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceA student once told me he never had a mom, but being in my class made him feel like he did. He was often labeled as difficult, yet in my classroom he was one of the best behaved students. I believe it was because he felt seen, respected, and cared for. That moment reminded me that connection and mutual respect can transform a child’s experience more than any lesson ever could.
What would you do with the $25,000?Climb out of debt and hopefully be able to continue on with teaching.
