I became a teacher to share my passion for literacy and learning. If I can get students who don't enjoy school to show up willing to try, I have done my job.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI am lucky to have a ton of memorable teaching moments, but one of my favorites is the first time I taught Hamlet. I was expecting a lot of pushback when I asked students to volunteer to read aloud. Instead, students were developing voices, mannerisms, and fighting to be the same character daily. It was a joy to see them connect to something so everlasting.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won $25,000 I would order all the books on my class wish list (and probably a few for me, I'll be honest), then I would get car repairs done, pay off some debt, and take a vacation!
