I became a music teacher because the music teachers I had growing up helped me become my best self. I was able to express myself creatively and positively while connecting to others- building relationships through the language of music. It was clear to me that I had calling to teach and share the language of music with others in hopes to make a positive impact. I love to facilitate an environment where students can connect and be creative!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience is when I took my middle school concert band to Universal Studios to play in the Music USA concert band festival competition. We ended up winning first place. The best part was being able to watch all of my students faces light up with excitement and pride when they won because they had worked so hard! Creating memories like these for students is what I live for!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use this prize money to help cover the costs of new instruments for my classroom, song books for my students, and field trip expenses. I would love to be able to take my students to see a really special performance.
