Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of the joy I feel when sharing my love of learning. I believe that learning is a lifelong journey that continues to inspire me daily. As a teacher, I strive to spark that same curiosity in my students. Kindling a love for learning is more meaningful than any lesson I teach. I value the connections I build and feel honored to witness each child’s growth through their sensitive periods. Helping navigate and learn their needs and place in society at that age.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Watching a student struggle is both heartbreaking and humbling. I remember a young man who often gave up, weighed down by academic challenges and a difficult home life. He believed people always left when things got hard. About nine weeks into the year, after a long day, he looked at me and said, “You can just quit.” I met his eyes and quietly told him I never would. From that moment, something shifted—he began to trust, and slowly, his confidence grew.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had $25,000, I would first use it to catch up on bills and ease some financial stress. I would help my classroom be more inviting and fill it with more supplies. I would then help my son with his college expenses and work toward finishing my own degree. Finally, I would encourage my spouse to explore returning to school if that’s still a goal. This support would help my family move forward together, both personally and academically.
