My first job was being a lifeguard and swim instructor and that’s where my passion of teaching began. I went to college for education, but had a move out of state planned and changed to business management. Because of COVID, I lost my business job. In October 2020, I found a private school to begin my full time career as a classroom teacher. Since then, my love of teaching has continued to grow each year of teaching.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceA new student was struggling with understanding math concepts that we were learning. Through lessons and practice in class, the student was able to catch up. By the end of the school year, math was their favorite subject. At a parent meeting, the student’s mom was in tears thanking me for all my help.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would split the funds between a donation to my school and my own student debt. My current dual immersion school is for students speaking Japanese or Mandarin along with English. The school is working on building a STEM lab and the school foundation has not raised enough funds yet.
