Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference. I was blessed with so many amazing educators in my life that helped shape me into who I am today. Their influence sparked the same passion of wanting to help others. Sometimes that difference goes beyond the classroom and creates the biggest impact. I also believe every child deserves someone in their corner, and to be able to be that someone is an honor of a lifetime.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was during a lesson about volume & surface area. Students were given only one sheet of paper to fold and make a container to hold popcorn. I borrowed a popcorn machine for us to enjoy our popcorn after they engineered their containers. The goal was to make the largest volume to hold the most popcorn. My students had a few trial and errors. Then we all laughed when I accidentally burned the popcorn the first time, but it was a fun learning experience for all!

What would you do with the $25,000?

$25,000 would be life changing for me and my family. I would put it towards building our forever home.
