Tell us why you became a teacher

I became an educator because I wanted to make a difference in students’ lives. I believe every student deserves to feel heard, valued, and capable of success. Being a teacher allows me to support students not only academically, but also as they grow in confidence and discover their strengths. Watching them learn, grow, and realize their potential is what inspires me every day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was going to Camp Ocky with the 6th grade team. I loved seeing my students in a completely different environment where they showed confidence, teamwork, and independence. It was especially meaningful because I went on the same trip as a 6th grader. Returning as a teacher and watching my students create those same memories gave me an even deeper appreciation for the impact these experiences can have.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to help put a down payment on a home in the community where I teach. I love the area and the students I work with, and it would mean a lot to be able to live in the same community that I serve as a teacher.
