Tell us why you became a teacher

I am actually the only teacher in my family, so I was the first to go to college and get my masters degree in teaching. I became a teacher for a few reasons. The first was because of previous teachers that I had and how much joy that they brought to the classroom and how much I learned and enjoyed learning. The second was being able to share my love of learning with others and being able to help others learn their true potential and inspire their curiosity.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It is very difficult to pick a most memorable moment in teaching because truly every day we are making memories. I think the most special moments that I have had as a teacher were being able to learn life skills with my students, teaching them how to cook, being able to go outside for our science lessons and doing scavenger hunts, and all of our in class projects and dancing that we do !

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I was to earn the $25,000, I really would like to spend it back on my students and in the community. My students are engaged in unified sports, unified proms and other activities with general education student students. I would love the opportunity to receive this money in order to give back to my student students in the community so that they may be able to have more access to resources and to be able to provide more opportunities for them for the activities, sports and events that they love
