I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was in first grade! My mom was a teacher and I remember helping her with monthly bulletin boards, organizing read alouds, and cutting out her lamination. I became a teacher because I wanted to take the love I have for reading and learning and share it with my students! I have been teaching first and second grade for 21 years and love it! Community building is one of my favorite things. I want every student and family to know they matter!

I remember when I was teaching first grade and this little girl had been working so hard all year, growing her reading skills, and she was sitting at her desk with a book in her hands. She was looking at it, concentrating so hard, and then she looked up at me with a big smile on her face, eyes wide and said “Mrs. Christensen, I can really READ!” I had tears of joy in that moment.

My husband is a firefighter and we have a small farm with our three kids! My students love hearing all about our animals and their adventures! We even have a house goat named Dallas that comes to visit class. Our family would love to fix some of our fencing because my family loves our animals so much and then donating some of the money to a cause of their choosing!
