Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to be the safe, steady adult I needed growing up. School should feel joyful, empowering, and full of possibility. I believe every child deserves someone who sees their potential and pushes them to believe in themselves. Teaching allows me to build confidence, spark curiosity, and create a classroom where students feel valued, heard, and capable of doing hard things.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience was watching a student who struggled academically begin to believe in themselves. After months of small wins, encouragement, and consistency, they raised their hand confidently for the first time and said, “I know this.” The change I saw proves it’s not only about content it’s about building up confidence, courage and self worth.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to build a middle school science classroom that feels both innovative and safe. I would invest in hands-on lab equipment, and interactive materials that make science exciting and accessible. I would also create a structured, welcoming environment with a calming space where students feel emotionally secure. My goal would be to foster curiosity while ensuring every student feels respected, supported, and confident taking academic risks.
