I love creating lasting memories that inspire both children and adult learners. I also love building relationships with my students.

I wanted to become a teacher because I love children but I also have a deep curiosity and love for art, music, science, and history. It has been my challenge and joy to integrate multiple modes of learning and curriculum to create these memorable moments.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMost memorable teaching experiences are in the garden that I created with the help of students and parents. For over 10 years I brought over 500 children into the garden at least twice a year. I was able to integrate science, math, writing, art and music into the natural spaces. I also founded the Michigan Folk School. Where students of all ages are reminded how to use their hands, find their flow, and meet like-minded people. Moments with these students are also deeply importance to me.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would deepen my own education of herbalism in order to bring new knowledge to students at both my elementary school and at the Michigan Folk School. I would take classes from other herbalists and herbal schools.
