Tell us why you became a teacher

I wanted a career where I could truly make an impact on the world and what better way then to create the foundation for all other professions. Being a teacher has given me the opportunity and joy to ensure that my students become successful individuals so that they can go out into the world and make meaningful impacts. Knowing that I would be able to create a classroom that is nurturing and allows my students to have a sense of belonging and feel safe and loved.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The most memorable experience for me is when a previous students that was just diagnosed with Autism elope her current classroom and run straight to mine because she knew that she would always be loved and welcome in our classroom. She spend the afternoon with me wanting to be held and coloring.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Working in a Title 1 school where money is tight some of this money would be put back into my classroom with new furniture, manipulative and decorations to allow the classroom to feel warm and inviting. Some of the money would be used to take my 3 kiddos on a vacation to reconnect and spend quality time with each other. The rest of the money would be sent aside for a rainy day.
