I love teaching because I enjoy being with kids. Seeing students become more confident in themselves makes it all worth it.
Thank you for supporting Joshua Silveira in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
I became a teacher because I enjoy inspiring kids and helping them grow into the best versions of themselves. It has been my mission to not only develop students academically intelligence but also their emotional intelligence. Seeing kids grow as a learner and as a member of society is an amazing thing to be a part of.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was watching one of my students who came in to my classroom saying that he couldn’t read and that his siblings would make fun of him for it. He also hated to write. By the end of the school year he grew significantly in his reading, loved to write stories, and gained so much confidence in himself. It’s has been my proudest moment as a teacher.
What would you do with the $25,000?With the $25,000 I would use $10,000 of it to give back to the community in where I work. The rest I would use as a down payment for a house for myself. It has been difficult to come up with a down payment due to paying for school and other bills.
